3 Poems by A.J. Huffman

Champagne

Liquid stars fly nowhere
in sea of gold, slide
up side of crystal flute, erupt,
tickle nose before diving
down into darkness,
swathing tongue and throat.

Curtains

Patterned ghosts blowing or
still.  Their movements haunt
dreams, nightmares, depending
on angle of light.

Teapot

Screaming tantrum, a temperate
child waiting for responsive touch.
Too late, fire
recedes in a breath, a sip of cup.
